In the 2025 federal election, Alana Hirtle defeated Conservative incumbent Stephen Ellis in Cumberland–Colchester, one of the province’s traditional Conservative strongholds. Across Nova Scotia, only a handful of Conservative incumbents lost their seats, making Alana’s victory one of the clearest examples that Liberal candidates can win in places many considered out of reach.

If we want to defeat the Houston Conservatives, we need candidates who have already shown they can earn the trust of rural voters and win competitive elections.
